Leading science and technology company, Merck, has declared that it will host a roadshow at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mumbai as it opens registrations for the third edition of the Merck Young Scientist Award 2023. This roadshow symbolizes the beginning of the nomination process and is expected to invite a wave of registrations from young scientists across the campus and beyond.
In line with Merck’s commitment to nurture scientific innovation, the Young Scientist Award offers a significant platform for researchers in the fields of Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, and now, Sustainability Research. This new category, focusing on green chemistry, renewable/alternate energy, sustainable materials, and manufacturing, reflects a growing global trend towards environmental consciousness and sustainable development in scientific exploration.
The award has been designed to honor 10 young scientists for their significant contributions to human progress. To be eligible, researchers should be associated with a research institute and have less than 10 years of post-Ph.D. research experience. Applications will be accepted until August 16, 2023, with the winners to be announced at an awards ceremony on November 24, 2023.
Previous editions of the award program have seen remarkable success, receiving over 2000 registrations from nearly 1000 institutes across India. The potential for this year’s edition to surpass those numbers, particularly with the new Sustainability Research category, is high.
