Narayana Health City in collaboration with the Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Society of Bangalore observed World Thalassemia Day

     Narayana Health City, a division of Narayana Health in association with the Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Society of Bangalore, celebrated World Thalassemia Day at Narayana Health City. They conducted a free HLA Screening camp and awareness seminar. The event was basically held at the Mazumdar Shaw Medical Centre at Narayana Health City, Bengaluru. It was inaugurated and graced by Dr. AN Desai- Deputy Director & State Nodal Officer, State Blood & Blood Storage Unit, Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services, Dr. Sunil Bhat, Director and Clinical Lead of Narayana Health City, Bengaluru, Mr Gagandeep Singh Chandok- President of the Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Society of Bangalore, including other members.

       The camp offered free HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigen) screening test and blood investigation for patients. There were more than 100 patients screened at the free check-up camp. The seminar that followed the free HLA screening camp & blood investigation was attended by more than 10 doctors. The event had also seen a stand-up comedian entertaining the participants. The Hematology, Oncology and Blood & Marrow Transplantation has set up 15 years and is known for its state-of-the-art care for adult and children with blood disorders and cancer.

     The department of Hematology, Oncology and Blood & Marrow Transplantation of Narayana Health City, Bengaluru, provides immunotherapy-based treatments for different types of cancer. The unit is also equipped with an 18 bedded state-of-the art bone marrow transplant facility. It is also equipped with HEPA filtration system and ensuite facilities. HEPA filtration system helps in removing 99.7% of dust, pollen, mold, bacteria, and any airborne particles in that place.  They have done more than 1600 transplantations in Karnataka till date and is considered to be the largest in the country.
