Cambridge-based digital health platform, PocDoc, has announced its expansion into four major UK community pharmacy chains, powering digital Health Checks in over 300 locations. The new partnerships include Knights Pharmacy Group, Weldricks Pharmacy Group, Greenlight Pharmacy Group, and Lincolnshire Co-op Pharmacy. PocDoc aims to provide accessible cholesterol testing and Health Checks, targeting areas of health inequality.
The PocDoc app is designed to deliver a comprehensive cardiovascular Health Check pathway, including a lab-grade cholesterol test with results available in under 10 minutes. The platform collects data on blood pressure and BMI, displaying the information in a health dashboard that compares the results to NHS clinical guidelines. This end-to-end digital solution can help prevent heart attacks and strokes by increasing access to cholesterol testing.
PocDoc’s expansion into community pharmacies emphasizes their crucial role in delivering increased access to cardiovascular screening, both in-pharmacy and in community settings. By collaborating with these pharmacy chains, PocDoc is taking an important step towards addressing health inequality and improving overall public health.
In addition to their pharmacy partnerships, PocDoc has been awarded two major NHS contracts to expand cholesterol testing access in non-traditional settings, such as at home, on the high street, and in other community locations. PocDoc recently secured significant investment from Forward Partners, MMC Ventures, and Simplyhealth, one of the UK’s leading health insurance providers.
Steve Roest, CEO of PocDoc, expressed enthusiasm for the expansion into community pharmacy, emphasizing the importance of pharmacies in increasing access to cardiovascular screening and improving public health.
