In July 2023, Anirudh Roy Chowdhury and T.N. Raju Subramanian, respected members of the Rotary Clubs in India, were appointed as Directors of Rotary International (RI). Their appointments came as Gordon McInally, a dedicated Rotarian from Scotland, began his term as the new president of RI.
Chowdhury, having joined Rotary as a charter member of his club in 1994, has a long history of promoting literacy. He was responsible for adding 450 members and 11 new clubs during his tenure as district governor and contributed significantly to The Rotary Foundation.
Subramanian, a legal counsel who has been involved with Rotary since 1987, has worked on a variety of health and social projects. His focus as a new RI Director will be to continue Rotary’s rich history in health initiatives, with an emphasis on mental health, a subject often overlooked but increasingly recognized as essential.
