Unprecedented Gathering: 500 Visually Impaired Youths Join JITO Ahimsa Run for Peace

In a trailblazing effort, the IIFL JITO Ahimsa Run, in collaboration with Torrent Group, welcomes over 500 visually impaired children to compete in Mumbai on April 2nd, 2023. These young participants, aged 12 years and older, represent a range of special schools and blind associations and will challenge themselves in various race categories, such as 10 km, 5 km, and 3 km runs.

Prithviraj Kothari, Chairman of JITO Mumbai Zone, acknowledges the humbling experience of witnessing these young athletes champion the values of peace, empathy, and non-violence. Their unyielding spirit and determination have driven them to overcome physical limitations and actively promote the event’s core message.

Mahendra Jain, Vice Chairman of JITO Mumbai Zone, highlights the overwhelming response from visually impaired children across Maharashtra, which reaffirms the organization’s commitment to inclusivity and diversity. The IIFL JITO Ahimsa Run seeks to unite people from various backgrounds in a shared pursuit of peace.

In anticipation of the event, the organizers will offer tailored training programs for the visually impaired participants. Prizes, including cash rewards, trophies, medals, and certificates, await the competitors, who will also benefit from dedicated areas at the venue for reporting and flag-offs, ensuring their safety and security.
