Wockhardt Hospitals’ Expertise and Care Helps 71-Year-Old Patient Overcome Surgery Challenges and Recover from Aortic Stenosis

Mrs. Sugandha Jadhav, a 71-year-old patient, showed remarkable determination when she was diagnosed with Type 2 respiratory failure, bronchial asthma, old TB, and severe aortic stenosis (AS) and left ventricular dysfunction (EF-15%). Although surgical replacement or transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) were recommended, Mrs. Jadhav opted for open heart surgery despite the high risks. With the help of Dr. Gulshan Rohra and the team of experienced doctors at Wockhardt Hospitals, Mumbai Central, Mrs. Jadhav underwent surgery, received pulmonary and physical rehabilitation, and made a full recovery.

Dr. Rohra said, “The procedure was challenging due to Mrs. Jadhav’s low weight, age, and difficult valve anatomy. However, we carefully planned for two weeks before taking her for open heart surgery. The biggest challenge was to replace the diseased valve with a new one considering her risk factors. With the help of a good team of doctors, the surgery went well without any complications.”

Mrs. Jadhav said, “I thank each person at Wockhardt Hospitals, Mumbai Central for all the care, concern, and love shown during my treatment. My faith in the doctors and my will to live longer for my children helped me overcome my fears, and today I am leading a beautiful life with them.”
